Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd are forming a new alliance, “Gemini Cooperation,” set to begin operations in February 2025. This partnership aims to enhance container shipping services between the United States East Coast, Turkey, and Italy. It also seeks to improve services in other significant Mediterranean hubs. It will streamline connections and boost capacity for both carriers.
Maersk’s new TA10 service will provide a direct link between Turkey, South Italy, and the U.S. East Coast, focusing on eight-week round trips. Meanwhile, Hapag-Lloyd is updating its existing Turkey East Coast Express (TEX) rotation. It is also updating its Atlantic Loop 7 (AL7) rotation to support this initiative.
