Incident Details Captured on Video

Footage circulating online reveals a forklift lifting a container, which causes a nearby stack of five containers to destabilize. As the forklift moves back, the top container from the column topples. It strikes the operator’s cabin and eventually rolls to the ground. In the aftermath, the operator is seen falling out of the damaged cabin.

In a separate visual, a column of four containers leans precariously against the forklift. The cabin is tilted backward. Emergency response’s, including at least six firefighters, can be seen tending to the injured operator at the scene.

Handling of Empty Containers

A source familiar with port operations indicated that the containers involved were empty. Forklifts are designated for empty container handling. Loaded containers, due to their weight and safety protocols, are typically managed with cranes.

PSA Singapore’s Commitment to Safety

PSA Singapore assured that it is investigating the incident and remains committed to maintaining high safety standards at its terminals.

This incident underscores the inherent risks in port operations. It highlights the importance of adhering to stringent safety measures. These measures are crucial to protect workers in high-stakes environments.
